iOS 6 Beta Reveals Yelp Check-ins Integrated Into Maps App
Apple this World Wide Developer Conference launched iOS 6 bringing over 200 new features to Apple’s iOS. One of the highlights of iOS 6 was the Maps app which got a huge make over, including 3D maps and turn-by-turn navigation. Although these features were amazing many people were still disappointed with the new Maps app. But it seems there is “one more thing” about the new Maps app.
The reason most users were disappointed with the new Maps app were the details on the map. Which if you have used it are simply not to standard or in simple words they are a huge disappointment to what we are used to on Maps app on iOS 5 which uses Google.
Even though the details on the new Maps are pretty bad, but we have one thing to rejoice about and that is Appleis going to integrate Yelp Check-ins on the new iOS 6 maps according to SDK (Software Development Kit) whichApple gave to developers.
Bloomberg managed to get some crucial information regarding the Maps app on iOS 6, they mention Appledeveloper kit “includes screen shots of Yelp check-ins within Apple Maps”.
Yelp is a service which allows users to give reviews and rate places. Back in 2010 Yelp introduced Check-ins for its service, the same way which Foursquare and Facebook use.
If this turns out to be true, which I think it definitely will, Yelp would get a huge boost and make it compete with the market leaders Facebook and Foursquare. As we have seen what iOS 5 did to Twitter, we can see the same result for Yelp in iOS 6.
Would you use Yelp’s check-in service with the new maps on iOS 6? Let us know in the comments below.
